Buju Banton & Beres Hammond - Discuss their work together 

Buju Banton and Beres Hammond Have recorded many tracks over the years and always bring a unique chemistry to their music.  Individually each artist has been incredibly successful - Beres as a lovers singer with culture and credibility.  Buju Banton as a dj who worked his way up through the ranks, then sited Rastafari and elevated music and culture further.  Together, Beres and Buju are a powerful combination.

There is quite a musical history and connectivity between harmony groups where these two men are concerned:  Errol is a founding member of The Jayes and was also a member of The Royals and Black Uhuru.  Lloyd Forest is a former member of the Chantells. The present membership of The Jayes is Errol Nelson, Lloyd Forest and Leroy Hall.  They have a recent album "Stepping Up In Time."  This is a 2006 Interview in Kingston. 

Harry A. Mudie Interview by Rich Lowe

This is an interview with the legendary Harry A. Mudie.  In the late 1980s we visited an open air market where Mr. Mudie sold music and cultural items, but he was not there at the time.  Many years have passed and we finally had a chance to meet up with Mr. Mudie.  Here is some video from that meeting.   
Mr. Mudie had a sound system in Jamaica in the 1950's called Mudie's HiFi. In the late 1950s, he then began work as a Producer and is arguably the first to record Nyabinghi drummer Count Ossie. Harry Mudie went on to record artists like Freddie McKay, Slim Smith, Cornell Campbell, Owen Gray, Gregory Isaacs, Delroy Wilson and many more. He is commonly credited as the first producer to integrate strings into Reggae music, which had a big impact. Mr. Mudie also ran a nightclub in Jamaica called Scaramouche. Harry Mudie is well known for his riddims "The Drifter and "Let Me Tell You Boy.

Candyman (Kandiman) Interview by Rich Lowe

Candyman (aka Kandiman) is a long time Jamaican singer dating back to the mid 1970s. he records under the names Candyman, Kandiman, Barry Reid, and Byron Reid. He is centered out of Montego Bay. He has a great CD on Sweetbeat Records titled "Marley Culture." His music is also available via "Ernie B Records" on the Internet.

Barry G Interview by Rich Lowe

Barry G is a long time radio announcer in Jamaica who has worked at numerous radio stations. He was often the number one radio disc jockey in Jamaica. Barry is - in part, responsible for Yellowman's success as Barry G hailed Yellowman's talents early on. As a radio announcer in the 1970's and onward, Barry had Dennis Brown, Jacob Miller, and Peter Tosh stop in to his radio program to discuss their musical activities.
